Although it has just passed, this year’s turnout of the largest rockabilly car show was amazing. If you love the old school hot rods and the rockabilly lifestyle then make sure you mark your calender for next year.
Its called the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender and it took place this last April at the Orleans Hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over 700 pre-’63 vehicles were in attendance and a crowd of over 18,000 showed up for the event. Its not just a car show, there is live music, a rockabilly clothing show, a burlesque show, and of course, all surrounded by great food and gambling.
The four-day event that took place from Thursday the 21st to Sunday the 24th, was a hot rodders dream come true. The weather was perfect and the cars came from all over to take part in this unforgettable gathering.
We can’t call it just a car show, because its more than that. Its a deep look inside the hot rod culture that holds so many memories and good times, especially for those of us that grew up in the ’30′s-to-’60′s eras. And its an opportunity to relive many more.
This year’s event was covered by Bang Shift, and they took over 500 photos reporting that this is probably the biggest event of its type in the Western USA. You can see their massive gallery HERE and HERE.
From pinup girls, and great bands and singers like Jerry Lee Lewis, it was a weekend packed with many things to do. They even had a tiki pool party and vintage fashion show. This is one of the biggest shows that brings you back in time when hot rods and fashion, along with oldies music, was a cultural lifestyle.
