LIVE! An Exclusive Look From Inside The Portland Roadster Show

[1]

A week spent in Las Vegas at the 2012 SEMA [2] show getting up to date with all the new technology and trends – check! Jump down to Pomona for the 64th annual Grand National Roadster [3] show and get awe struck by a set of V8-60 Ardun [4] heads… yup – check! Next on the list, head out to Motor City for the 61st annual Detroit Autorama [5] and get an exclusive interview to find out that the owner’s favorite part of the winning car for the 50th Ridler award [6] is the bellhousing – check, and yeah that one definitely threw me for a loop too.

But what do I do now?

Right: A&M Deluxe Customs brought out one of my GNRS Top-10 Picks to display to their hometown crowd. Left: Eckert's Rod & Custom brought their MACH 40 to this year's PDX Roadster show.

Take some time off; sit around the house hoping to get started on my project G10 van? Um, nope, can’t do that and do you know why? Well thanks to my insatious appetite for killer rods and customs I couldn’t miss an opportunity to soak in the sights and sounds of my hometown show. Right here in Portland, Oregon the show circuit is alive and well and kicking off the 57th annual Portland Roadster [9] show.

Speedway Motors rolled into town with several of "Speedy Bills" favorite rides.

Editor’s Note: (You may have noticed that our new Event Editor on Rod Authority is bringing LIVE and up-to-the-minute show coverage from shows around the country. We are glad to have Dennis Pittsenbarger on hand to bring you an all access look inside some of the country’s best shows and highlights – so stay tuned for much, much more!)

So with Nikon in hand I jumped on the I5 and headed over to the Portland Expo center to grab some sneak-peek images of where I will surely be hanging my hat for the next three days. So if you see a slightly tubby guy with a Power Auto Media Rod Authority T-shirt on make sure to grab my sleeve and say hello, but for now enjoy this LIVE set of images from the show.

Ed Big Daddy Roth's Road Agent was sitting ready to be rolled into its display.
