PRI is hustling and bustling right now, with hundreds of companies looking to showcase some of their latest and greatest for the performance-minded enthusiasts at home and abroad. For CPR Racing, the biggest product making a splash right now are its magnetic fuel filters.
We spoke with CPR’s Goran Bogdanovic to get a better sense of what set these items apart, and how they’d make an impact in the lives of potential users. The issue is one of particulates and debris that can clog and eventually destroy a motor from the inside out, “On a lot of the injectors that we clean and test, we tend to find a lot of metal inside that manages to slip past a typical fuel filter,” said Bogdanovic.
“These tiny metal particles clog the injectors and cause fuel starvation, so to correct the problem, we now use an epoxy-held magnet that catches the metal long before it reaches the injectors. During research and development, we used a flow bench to analyze the filter’s effectiveness, and not only does the filter catch the particles, but it holds them as well.”
The part uses two metal filters, one a 100-micron pre-filter, and the other a 10-micron post-filter. “These are stainless steel filters as a standard, making them reusable,” said Bogdanovic. “It’s as easy as pulling them out, washing, drying, and putting them back in.”
Billet aluminum construction keeps the unit sturdy and reliable, and able to handle years of harsh use. As far as price goes, they’ll most likely remain right in line with what customers are already used to. Bogdanovic confirmed that the use of magnets hasn’t increased the cost to consumers, but is simply an added bonus to a product they already know and love.
