It goes without saying that suspension components are the foundation of any ride. Your suspension setup determines how your car will ride, how it will corner, and the kind of steering and brake system that you can use. That’s why it’s so important to consider the different options that are available, and SAE-Speed has some of the best stuff on the market.
We talked to Brian Douglas of SAE-Speed and he told us a bit about their company and some of the details with one of their recent innovations: a Mustang II-style independent front suspension system for 1947 to 1959 Chevrolet trucks.
“This particular kit is kind of special because the lower control arm allows you to use a coilover, airbags, or a standard shock and spring,” Brian said. “And everything just bolts on.” Whatever method you choose for ride control, coilovers, bags, or standard shocks, all methods bolt in place within the control arm system and the kit comes with all of the brackets. That means you can pick the shock/airbag system that you want and install is fairly easy.
SAE-Speed also offers all sorts of suspension components for Tri-Fives, Chevelles, Camaros, and C10 pickups. “We’re doing a lot of C10 parts,” Brian said. “One is a rear disc brake conversion that will get you from a drum to a disc with a simple bolt-on kit.” They also have many other parts for multiple models.
