A Look At Extreme Autocrosser Brandy Phillips & Her 72 Chevy C-10R

Being very familiar with the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show held each November in Las Vegas, Nevada, Rob Phillips and his wife Brandy will be a part of this year’s festivities. Thanks to their custom 1972 Chevy C10 truck, which the two brought to the 2007,2008, and 2010 SEMA show, Spectre Performance will be featuring their truck at their SEMA booth this fall.

Growing up, Brandy Morrow-Phillips was always around cars with her father, who worked in the automotive aftermarket industry at various NASA and SCCA events. With passion for the car scene, Brandy began attending driving schools and competing as soon as she got her license.

In 2008, Brandy was awarded the opportunity to compete in several vehicles sponsored by Spectre Performance as part of a marketing program initiated by the company. All the chances paid dividends in 2011 when she was victorious at her first Goodguys Autocross event at the 2011 Goodguys PPG -Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

Victorious on the track, she was also victorious tying the knot in 2012 and trading in her racing gear for motherhood. Brandy’s husband Rob applied his racing experience with his 1969 Chevy C10 show truck to Brandy’s 72 C-10R.

With her husband’s help, Brandy’s C-10R was fitted with a heavily modified custom suspension kit. As a result, Brandy’s lap times improved as she pushed the C-10R hard at the Goodguys 6th Spring Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona.

She ended up with a lap time that was five seconds faster than her closest competitor in the truck class at the Goodguys Spring Nationals. With the victory, Brandy moved into the Goodguys Autocross Pro Class.

Brandy and her C-10R look poised to dominate the 2015 season in their respective class.

However, her winning run in the truck class was about five seconds slower than the winning Pro Class driver Kyle Tucker. Nonetheless, her lap time was faster than two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Al Unser Jr.’s best lap in the Pro Class.

With passion for the sport, Brandy has also spent a considerable amount of time promoting autocross to the masses. She spent the entire weekend during the Goodguys Spring Nationals giving spectators, and fellow drivers rides in her PCH Rods built C-10R.

The list of guests she had on the agenda couldn’t even be completed since there just wasn’t enough time. She also got kids involved, taking pictures with her, the truck, and also giving them a personally autographed hero card by Brandy herself.

Spectre Performance helps to expand Brandy Phillips’ opportunities within the realm of performance autocross.

Having so much to give and her appreciation for autocross, Spectre Performance is honored to be a part of Brandy’s 2015 race season and her PCH Rods C-10R. With so much to look forward to and with faith in Brandy’s driving skills, Spectre Performance hopes to contribute to her established success.

Keep your eyes out for Brandy Phillips and her C-10R, which we last spotted at Goodguys Del Mar Nationals in Southern California. She finished in 10th place but had a great lap time nonetheless.
