Most gearheads wish they can step into a junkyard full of classic iron from the 50s and 60s to take in all the views of pitted chrome, rusted fenders, and torn upholstery to reflect on a bygone era when wrecking yards were full of cars like this before they eventually rotted into the ground and were crushed.
Well it turns out these yards still do exist, and over the past ten years or so, more and more have been made known to people like us across the country thanks to magazines like Hemmings Motor News to bring them to our attention. But the sad twist of irony usually means that nothing’s for sale, and the owner has no intention of doing anything with them, and we’re not talking 10-20 cars either, we’ve seen yards filled with hundreds of desirable classic pony cars, muscle cars, and ‘50s dream machines that have been off limits to people with cash in hand wanting to buy, only to be turned down flat out.
While those of you living in the Midwest and East Coast may be a little disappointed to find out most of them are spread across the Western part of the country, there’s one in Nebraska in particular that is willing to auction everything in its inventory. That’s right, we’ve heard through the grapevine with the help of Jalopnik that a yard in Maxwell, NE will be cutting everything loose to the general public before the metal scrappers get their hands on everything on July, 17th. As you can see from the provided pictures, there’s plenty to go around.
