Gutentag! I bring you very good German Street Rod Association Hot Rod Tour from Deutschland, my home country. Please treat me nice even though I am from München – even though my fellow Germans tease us like Southerners in America, I think? We are good people even if Berliners think we talk fun.
Now you must pardon my Englisch but I am not sure why the video plays American music instead of Krautrock, but these are American machines, yes? They look like they are in California with their hot rod style but, you trust me, they are as German as Michael Schenker wearing lederhosen. They are headed to the airport in Bottrop where, since 2003, it turns out one of the biggest “Kustom Kulture” shows in the Continent. European fans of American hot rod culture come to show off their wagens, motorbikes, and even a 400-meter race (that’s an 1/8th-mile to you Yanks).
About 250 cars showed up – the club limits them to pre-1965 cars, the same year Ford redesigned the Taunus – plus 150 motorcycles. But like they say in America: just wait, there’s more! Kustom Kulture artists from around the world also were in attendance, so if you desired to have your car pinstriped by some guy from Japan, Deutschland was the place to be.
The GSRA members in the video are Timo with his 1930 “Gold Fink,” Mario in his 1934 Sedan Deivery, and Roger in his 1930 V-12 Model A…what? You were expecting an Opel?
