Realizing that there just might be something to this, Auto Meter sought to offer the single-greatest push in gauge customization it had ever made.
Director of Social Media, Joseph Mills explained to Rod Authority, “We’ve always gotten special requests and while we’ve always worked with our customers to provide them exactly what they want, but there were limitations in what we could do and the process wasn’t as easy as it should have been. We knew that we could do it better so we came up with a program that allows customers to design their own gauges.”
Auto Meter’s “Custom Shop” website, which can be accessed at ampcustomshop.com, offers an amazing array of combinations of face color and style, font, bezel and trim, and needle design and color. In fact, the quantity of combinations is pretty staggering. According to Mills, “There are over 14 trillion combinations of Auto Meter gauges in the program, and that number is continuing to grow.”
Found completely online, the Auto Meter Custom Shop is a site that allows you to hand-pick every little bit of styling for your unique gauge cluster, and even allows you to invite friends to look at your creation and share the layout on Facebook! Pretty impressive stuff, we thinks.
“We are pretty proud of this program. It took 17 people working 7 days a week since may to perfect it,” added Mills, and from we’ve seen, everyone involved certainly earned their paycheck. One cool thing too is that when your custom hand-built gauges are finally delivered, they arrive in an exquisite custom cedar box with the Auto Meter Custom Shop logo hot iron-branded into the wood.
