The renowned automobiles that roll onto the bidding platform need no introduction let alone the entire Barrett-Jackson production that occurs several times annually. For those of you who either, missed the Scottsdale edition or simply refused to watch due to the jaw-dropping prices some cars exchanged hands for, here’s a look at a ’55 that closed out at $220,000.
Lot #817 sold shy-off the same value as a gorgeous 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath in a developing suburb. Tongue-in-cheek aside, this slick F-100 is certainly a looker. Nicknamed “Night Train,” this twilight street rod definitely packs a punch at 550 hp made possible by a 427ci Ford. A 4-speed overdrive automatic and Currie 9-inch rear end sit atop a TCI chassis equipped with IFS, coilover shocks, and disc brakes on all four corners. 20-inch Billet Specialties wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot tires which provide high-speed stability, firm road grip, improved handling, and increased stopping power.
Night Train is encased in real-steel throughout, from the body and fenders to the quarter panels and narrowed running boards, this is a hardy truck with some serious internals. The interior is adorned with the modern gadgetry associated with street rods–a Vintage Air climate control system, power windows, power locks, and a pro-wired 500-watt remote stereo/subwoofer audio package balance out this street demon with a couple elements of modern luxury.
For those wondering, the next Barrett-Jackson Auction is scheduled for April 11-13 and will be held in the gorgeous coastal city of Palm Beach, Florida. Stay tuned for more pristine rides and brass-in-the-pants bidding this spring.
