Diabetes impacts the lives of countless people along with their friends and family, but when this disease befalls children it seems even more heartbreaking.
Juvenile Diabetes is manageable thanks to medication and lifestyle changes, but what if one day there was a cure for this malady? A local southern California upholstery shop sponsors an annual cruise event to benefit Juvenile Diabetes research.
Established in 1951, Collins Trim Shop has been around the hot rod scene for years and chose to use their connections to the hot rod community to benefit a worthy cause. This year’s Collins Cruisin’ For A Cause is scheduled for May 20, 2012 in La Habra, California. Unlike many car shows or cruises the 2012 Cruisin’ For A Cause event welcomes all car clubs and is open to all 1986-and-older vehicles.
At 10am the cruise kicks off La Habra High School and continues on to Sonora High School; upon arriving at the Sonora High School campus participants and spectators are welcome to enjoy the vendor displays, live entertainment, contests and demos.
Once all of the cruise participants arrive at Sonora, the car show will get started giving everyone time to appreciate the gleaming chrome and glossy paint on display. As an added attraction the 2012 Cruisin’ For A Cause will feature a vintage dragster demonstration featuring Winger Express, Goodyear Blue Streak and Shirley “Cha Cha” Muldowney’s fully restored 1977 World Championship Dragster.
If the vintage dragster demo was not enough to entice participation or attendance at this charity event, then perhaps an autograph session with Al “Mouse” Marcellus might just push this cruise event into high gear. For those interested in participating, attending or sponsoring the 2012 Collins Cruisin’ For A Cause event should check out the event page on the Collins Trim Shop website.
