Custom Body Enterprises Replica 1973 Funny Car For Sale

[1]

How many times have you been walking through an automotive museum and wish you could take one of the masterpieces home?  Now you can!

[2]Originally built by Don Kirby, John Butera and Nat Quick for the Castronovo Race Team (Phil and Fred Castronova) out of New York, the replica Custom Body Enterprises “Utica Flash” Fuel Funny Car based on a 1973 Dodge Challenger body has been on display at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum in Glendora, California for the past two years and was recently listed on eBay [3].

The car in its current state took two years to restore to its 1973 condition and was done so with a lot of input from one of the original owners, Fred Castronova.  Attention to detail was of the utmost importance and it showed in the final product.  All the colors on the current version match the original from 1973, including the paint, lettering, stickers and the powder coated chassis.  The current power plant is a Keith Black 484ci just like it was back in the day. There were a few liberties taken in the reconstruction, including a 6 point roll cage instead of the 4 point cage and a fabricated chromoly non-floater rear-end housing with Strange 40 spline axles.

Originally it was tuned by Phil Roberts and driven by Tom Prock, father of Jimmy Prock who is the crew chief for John Force Racing’s Robert Hight. With Tom driving the Utica Devils was quite successful in 1973 running consistent low 6 seconds at 235 MPH and won the New England F/C Nationals, Super Stock Magazine Nationals, New England Dragway F/C Tourney and Grand American F/C Eliminator.  Primarily rebuilt for shows and the occasional Cackle Fest, it has been only started twice.
