Eric Clapton’s Brizio-Built 1932 3-Window Coupe

Clapton may “get off on ’57 Chevys,” but one of his most recent additions to his growing car collection is a Brizio-built ’32 Ford 3-window coupe. Clapton is known for having a spectacular Ferrari collection, but the artist known as “Slow-Hand” also has an affinity for American classics too. Clapton’s collection is known to have a 1949 Chevy pickup, a 1932 Ford Victoria with Roush V8, and a classic ’32 Ford Roadster.

Recently we were walking the floor at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California, with Marty Waterstraut of ididit incorporated. ididit (yes it is spelled with a lower case i) is a world-class manufacturer of steering columns and accessories for hot rods and musclecars. As we made our way through the countless rows of hot rods and roadsters, Marty pointed out Clapton’s newest hot rod, the ’32 3-window coupe. “That’s our column,” he said.

Of course we had to stop and admire the rest of the car. We know what our idea is cool is. It’s interesting to see what a man that has more artistic talent than da Vinci (and more money than God), thinks is cool.

The top was cut, chopped, and stretched.

Little is known about the exact contents of Clapton’s entire collection except that all of the cars have been restored to original condition or meticulously modified to exact specifications. We know that most of the guitar hero’s cars rarely see the light of day and are sparingly driven on the streets. We did find a photo of Clapton driving his ’32 Ford Roadster with a Goodguys sticker on the windshield and a smile on his face.

Clapton may have a rock and roll heart, as he explained on his 1983 album “Money & Cigarettes,” but he doesn’t have a ’57 Chevy that we know of. The list of known Clapton-owned automobiles are listed below. Mostly Ferraris but there are enough hot rods to consider the guitar master a real hot rodder.
