Have you ever attempted to define the term “hot rod” let alone the definitions and topics of debate that arise within automotive culture?

If you have then it usually turns into the same mental chess match and subsequent argument when trying to approach religion, politics, or any other topic that’s fueled by deep perceptions–and yes the subject of the automobile is right at home amongst this list of passionate topics. Again trying to define the term “hot rod” is only one of many paths to a certain disagreement.

For the debate prone, luckily the Portland Roadster Show is a celebration not just of “hot rods” but the works of art that all of the vehicles in the Portland Expo center have become.

Definition withstanding there is both what would and would not be considered the traditional “hot rod” including pro-touring, pro-street, import tuner, rat rods, and many other sub-categories holding down their patch of concrete floor.

Starting in the mid-fifties, the Portland Roadster Show has routinely collected the best of the best that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Now in its 58th year the Portland Roadster Show is set to, once again, give you an inside glimpse into some of the creative efforts of builders, painters, and pinstripers alike and to provide a platform for them to showcase their hard work.

Along with the cars and the stars, this year’s Portland Roadster Show combines the model car expositions and the creative efforts of our youth in their “High School Challenge”. The Portland Roadster Show continues to preserve its standing as one of the best shows in the country.
