In the automotive industry, it’s not uncommon to find industry leaders who came from meager beginnings, blossoming from small businesses into house-hold names. And while Factory Five Racing is certainly a well-known company in the automotive world already, their smaller beginnings have recently gained attention, securing them the Southern New England Small Business of the Year designation in June. Congratulations goes out to Factory Five for this much deserved award.
Factory Five Racing got its start in 1995 and has grown to be the largest designer and manufacturer of component car kits in the country, but still, by metropolis standards, the company is a growing and very successful small business.
Their commitment to quality, service and enjoyment of building kit cars is seen through company practices and won over the hearts of the New Bedford Chamber of Commerce who awarded Factory Five with their 2012 Small Business of the Year Award in a ceremony on June 14th.
“Factory Five is a wonderful company and a great success story,” chamber President Roy Nascimento said at the ceremony.
“It’s a small business that has grown, hired more employees, and has given back to the community and to various causes.”
Factory Five Racing is the first manufacturer to win this award since 2007, which proves the mere quality and success of the company. Team members for the company were on hand to accept the award with president Dave Smith at the special breakfast award ceremony.
“In 2009 and 2010, even into 2011, we invested a tremendous amount into the company when almost everybody said don’t do it,” Smith was quoted as saying in the Factory Five Racing news release.
“Although the economic skies have cleared a little bit, winning this award to me is really a validation of the wisdom of investing; investing in our company, in our equipment and in our people.”
We would like to congratulate Factory Five Racing on their award. Be sure to stay tuned to Rod Authority and check back often for more Factory Five news.
