As 2012 gets on its way, we’re all pulling out our calendars to see what automotive events we’ll be attending this season. While we’ve still got some time yet, there has been one schedule change that all you enthusiasts looking to attend events from the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association should take note of. As we found out from the Goodguys themselves, the 6th Chicagoland Nationals will not be taking place this year.

The Chicagoland Nationals has been a staple in the Goodguys event series for a few years now. Held at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois, the event was host to over 1,000 unique vehicles each year and events like the Goodguys AutoCross, swap meet and special track cruises. Last year, the Chicagoland Nationals also played host to one of the new Sunday Get-Togethers that are being held at 16 Goodguys Nationals events in 2012.

Unfortunately, the Chicagoland Nationals event, scheduled the weekend of August 12th, has been removed from the Goodguys’ 2012 season due to a scheduling conflict with the Chicagoland Speedway.

While this is disappointing news, there are three events being put on by Goodguys within about 350 miles of the Joliet, Illinois area. The Goodguys 21st Heartland Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa is only 310 miles away and will be held from June 29th through July 1st. Goodguys and gals from Chicago also have the 15th PPG Nationals from July 6th through the 8th just 365 miles away in Columbus, Ohio, and the 2nd WIX Filters Speedway Nationals to be held from September 21st through the 23rd just 190 miles away in Indianapolis, Indiana.

This schedule change may mean a bit more traveling for Chicago area rodders, but part of the Goodguys fun is taking a little road trip to get to the events. We can’t wait for the Goodguys 2012 season to kick off and look forward to seeing the Chicagoland Nationals return next year.
