Goodguys Setting Out to the Lone Star Nationals on Texas Road Tour

Last year, the rodders and supporters of the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association [2] had such a great time on the RodFather Tour [3] that they’re adding another road trip to their repertoire for the 2013 season. While last year nearly 100 rodders traveled to Indianapolis for the Goodguys 2nd WIX Filters Speedway Nationals, this road trip will stay a bit further West, as the tour heads off to the Goodguys 21st Lone Star Nationals in October. If you’re looking for vacation ideas or just a great way to enjoy your hot rod, this trip is now taking reservations and should not be overlooked.

goodguys_texas_road_tour_2 [4]The 2013 Texas Road Tour will take 50 hot rods and their owners from the Goodguys’ headquarters in Pleasanton, California out to the 21st Lone Star Nationals at the Texas Motor Speedway. The trip will kick off on September 27th, and like all previous road trips, will make stops at some of the country’s finest speed shops, car collections, museums, and more over the course of several days. Heading the pack will be Goodguys’ latest car project, the 1969 G/RS Camaro [5].

Stops along the first leg of the road trip currently include Campbell’s Auto Restoration and Ironworks Speed & Custom Shop in California, and the Denny Sisle private collection, Pence Richard’s private collection, Dennis Wise’s private collection, and the Big Mike Harrah Hanger in Arizona.

On day five of the trip, enthusiasts will visit the Unser Museum and continue their trip with stops at the Route 66 Museum, Cadillac Ranch, Mark Warrick’s private collection, and finally Bob Owen’s Junk Yard and Collection before landing in Fort Worth, Texas for the Lone Star event.

Last year, Pinkee’s Rod Shop created a special car just for the RodFather Tour. Maybe this year there will be another custom hot rod commemorating the Texas Road Tour!

Tickets to join the road trip are now available for $1500 per car and include hotel stays, most meals, museum entry fees, a roadmap booklet and entry into the Lone Star Nationals. Participants will also receive two shirts, two hats, two decals and a special event parking area for the Goodguys show.

It may be a ways away, but spots for the tour are already filling up, so be sure to make your reservations soon. After all, you don’t want to miss this historic South West hot rod tour of a lifetime.
