With SEMA 2013 quickly approaching a lot of industry leaders are gearing up and prepping for their displays. From product lines to project builds, the market is working hard and fast to deliver some game changing spectacles in November.

Hellwig is teaming up with Currie Enterprises for its latest project car, a 1968 Chevelle.The ’68 will be entirely reworked from the chassis up to the body.

The ’68’s chassis will be displayed at the 2013 SEMA show for Hellwig. The body will be separated from the frame and for the rest of 2013 through the first half of 2014 the chassis and its components will be making appearances nationwide. All the while, Hellwig will be prepping the powertrain and body for the goods.

Currie’s Bomb-Proof Rearends

In order to handle the projected powertrain upgrades a Currie Track 9 axle with 3.70 gears and a Detroit True Tac differential was chosen. The entire housing is formed steel from end to end and the third member is not burdened by the torsional loads from the axle tubes. On top of that, the components can be easily removed for maintenance.

For those looking for a heavy-duty rearend themselves, Currie’s ability to send buyers modular kits appeals to those who know what parts they need without the penalty of over spending on a ready-made, pre-assembled unit. The other upside to this is that consumers don’t have to worry about the additional cost of shipping by truck freight as the individual parts fall just below the UPS weight threshold.

Currie Enterprises provides some of the best product lines catering to rearend components from axles to housings. Although their products will make up only a portion of the ’68’s Chassis to be displayed at this year’s SEMA convention, it is no doubt an integral part to what is shaping out to be a monster Chev.
