The National Street Rod Association will be hosting ten NSRA events across the country in 2016, with various awards and honors distributed among a very deserving group of car owners and car builders. Of those highly coveted awards, one of the most cherished and prestigious is awarded by the International Show Car Association (ISCA). The ISCA will present an “ISCA Pick” award at each one of the ten NSRA events held during the year.
Founded in 1963, the ISCA is composed of members from three groups. From exhibitors who show their vehicles and compete at ISCA indoor events, to judges who evaluate the vehicles and determine where a vehicle places in the respective class, and producer members who produce custom car shows.
Two winners from the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Southwest Street Rod Nationals held from April 8 through April 1o were selected as ISCA “Top Picks.” The first award went to a beautiful 1968 Chevrolet Camaro owned by Dave Hutchison from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The other ISCA “Top Pick” selection went to a beautiful 1940 Ford Convertible owned by Otis & Debbie Schmidt from Moore, Oklahoma.
Both vehicles are highly desirable in current times with the popularity of the first generation Camaros and the fifth generation full-size Fords. Hutchison’s Camaro and the Schmidt’s Ford have notched their place in history as the show heads to Bakersfield, California, this weekend. We are all gong to be looking forward to the next two ISCA “Top Picks” from the west as the show hits the Kern County Fairgrounds. We’ll be covering the event and will have photos of the winners early next week.
