Take one really haggard old ’59 Chevy Apache, add TLC, a built motor with blower, and prepare for some serious tire destruction. Jalopnik found a YouTube video chronicling the evolution of the Apache from old to outrageous. Despite appearing to be in running and driving condition, but roachy at best, this Apache starts out humbly enough having served multiple owners over the years.

Multiple colors of paint adorn this neglected truck, but this hardworking American truck is in more quite a makeover (think of it as “The Swan” only for a pickup truck). A few stills start off the video, showing the removal of the interior and various stages of repair.

Once the truck is finished up, it is almost unrecognizable compared to its’ previous form, with a glossy burgundy paint job and dual carbureted engine. Before a project can be truly be called finished, it must be tested just in case there are any bugs or gremlins that need to be flushed out.

One of the best ways to “test” the strength and durability of a finished product is an abnormally excessive tire smoking session followed by a series of donuts. There are few things more American than a classic truck destroying rubber and nothing is quite as beautiful seeing an old Apache doing some serious donuts.
