Now in its ninth year, the Factory Five Huntington Beach Cruise-In will be once again shutting down a few streets for the biggest custom car party Main Street. With special guests like Jo Coddington and Courtney Hansen signing posters and posing for pics, we suspect the VIP tent is going to be pretty busy this Saturday.
Although Factory Five is now located in Massachusetts, founder Dave Smith remembers his roots and comes back each year so car owners can show off their ride, and the locals (and us media gearheads) can drool and daydream of our own Factory Five car. Once again, we’ll be there this Saturday to cover the scene, as well as choose our favorites from several classes.
And making its debut appearance at a car show, our very own Project FFR Cobra Jet Challenge build. It’s been a long year since the car first showed up in pieces, and after its SEMA debut we still had a few bugs to iron out. But now the car is ready to show and will be there on Main Street with other builders/owners.
Registration opens at 9 A.M. with the Fabulous Nomads playing the hits at 10 A.M. when the party officially starts. Both Jo Coddington and Courtney Hansen will each be at center square to help unveil a car to the crowd, with Jo making the unveiling at 11:00 and Courtney unveiling a car at 1:00. At 2:00 P.M., the judging will be long over with and the awards will be handed out to the winners of 17 categories.
If you’re in the Huntington Beach area this Saturday, April 30th, and you’ve got a craving for some badass Factory Five builds, come on out and join us at Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway for the party in the streets. We’ll be there all day… because you just can’t take it all in with a single walk through.
And to get a little glimpse of what to expect, you can check out our coverage from 2015, or visit the Factory Five website for more information on events, and to see the kits that you can purchase and build yourself.
