Pro-Touring Classic ’51 Chevy Pickup Hitting Mecum

[1]

The Chevrolet pickup has been a staple in the Chevy lineup since the 1930s. Built for hauling and work loads, the classic Chevy pickup has become more of a leisure vehicle now than ever before. With the pro-touring trend increasing in popularity every day, we are seeing more and more of these trucks get a new chance at life, just like this Cherry Red ‘51 Pickup set to cross the auction block at Mecum’s Spring Classic Auction [2] next month.

[3] This Chevy truck combines the best of both worlds. Classic looks are complimented by a new Corvette LS2 for power, which was upgraded with a Griffin radiator and a street and performance pulley system.

The engine is strapped to a new 4L70E automatic transmission and backed by a Dana 36 rearend with 3.73 gears.

The truck also features power rack and pinion steering and a frame modified to accept the front and rear suspension from the more advanced Corvette.

Inside, the Chevy pickup features a two-toned tan leather interior, Glide Engineering front seat, Flaming River tilt steering column and Vintage Air system. All of these features make the truck comfortable and ready to enjoy whether its at a show or on the road.

If you’re looking for a classic pro-touring truck, this one is definitely worth a look. It is set to cross the auction block at the Dana Mecum’s 25th Original Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis, Indiana on Friday May 18th, with biding set to take place at 2:30p.m. Check it out and you could be enjoying your summer behind the wheel of this red Chevy pickup.
