Summers & Sons – Saturday Night Special ’70 C-10

[1]And now for the coolest autocross truck, ever. Check out this low down and dirty 1970 Chevy C10 built by Trent Summers, son Jason Brady and best friend Brad Coomer, all from Jasper, Indiana. What was once a plebeian, workaday hauler nows hauls butt around the autocross torturing rubber. ProTouring.com brings us the story. [2]

The guys got the truck about six months ago and just three and a half months later, the heavily mutated and massaged Chevy C10 you see here emerged from the shop. The drivetrain consists of a Cale Kern LS2 with Z06  guts [3], a Holley 750 carb [4] and a Bowler 4L80e transmission [5]featuring a manual valve body and air shifter.

[6]All this sits on top of a heavily modified chassis sportin’ a No Limit Engineering front crossmember and trailing arm kit [7]with Ridetech triple adjustable coil-overs [8]at all four corners. Check out the tubular chassis braces and roll cage as well. Up front sit a pair of 18 x 11-inch Wide 5 wheels, while the rear was stuffed with 18 x 12-inch hoops as well. To finish it off, Wilwood brakes [9]and pedal assemblies were added with custom spindles and quick change rearend.

When it was all buttoned up, they wasted no time wringing this rig out. They’ve nabbed several wins the last couple of times they’ve raced the truck with more to come. The C10 is one of the best looking trucks ever and this thing looks very sinister slammed down with trimmed fenders and big rubber.

If you think a full size pick up can’t handle, check out the pictures of this big feller hustling around the cones. Excellent work guys.
