The Benefits Of Being In A Car Club

Hot rodding and kustom kulture have been the hub for some of this nation’s most iconic groups–the car club. From the Long Beach Cavaliers who have roots in the 40s to the Pharaohs who were notorious and garnered so much public attention that they were featured in the film classic, American Graffiti.

Though the lone-wolf has just as much talent and a lineage of non-affiliated builds to back its own history, there are definitely perks to being in a car club which are all based on practicality and the fact that their is definitely an advantage to having the support of several individuals operating under a pride-instilling organization.

Charities And Giving Back To The Community

One of the biggest contributions that most car clubs maintain is their ability to organize and give back to the community. The Viejitos Car Club organizes an annual toy drive in San Diego, California and also put on nostalgic events like their Valentine’s Day dinner and dance party.

Full Fledged Shop Force, More Hands

During an interview with Eric Connor of Fellas SoCal one thing he’d mentioned is that one of the best things about being in a car club is the amount of help you receive from your fellow members, “Everyone has their own special set of skills and interests.”

Turning Around A Project Doesn’t Seem As Daunting

Another benefit is the fact that when you’re surrounded by members who are just as driven to get your car up and running, the challenge doesn’t seem as daunting. Just like fitness, having a spot partner allows you to get those extra repetitions out that you may not have been able to complete without the help of a companion present.

In an interview during Viva Las Vegas Rick, president of the Long Beach Cavaliers, told Rod Authority about a GNRS deadline they had to meet, “the night before GNRS Aladdin’s roadster was completely disassembled. We stayed up all night and got the thing put back together with all the dress up and final touches in time for the show. That was crazy.”

Opportunities To Make Bigger Purchases Become Attainable

We’re not saying that all clubs operate in the same way. All have different processes, but a very real, smart, and rational process for purchasing more expensive parts is clubs are always willing to split the cost of bigger buys that face its members.

If everyone goes in with this attitude and treats a member’s project like all their projects, the shop list gets knocked out quicker, more efficiently, and with less of a strain on an individual’s pocket.
