Tony Genty Buys Back Family Business, Changes Name And Location

Originally founded as J & M Enterprise Group Inc. by Jim and Mary Ann Genty, the company  specialized in Shoebox Ford and Mercury suspension, the company was built on a foundation of custom coil and leaf springs, king pin to ball joint conversions, and disc brake kits. The company became Jamco Suspension in 1985.

The company went into immediate hiatus after co-founder Jim Genty passed away during Hot August Nights in 2007. Genty’s son Tony, former chief operating officer of Original Parts Group, has recently repurchased the company, bringing it back into the founding family, and has announced the name change to Jamco Parts to reflect expansion of product lines and company vision.

Well known and respected in the aftermarket automotive parts industry as one of the  nation’s go-to resource for custom suspension and brake components, Jamco has thrived as the largest custom suspension dealer on the West Coast. This change in ownership signifies a new era of growth that will create an even stronger foundation as Jamco continues to serve its loyal and growing customer base.

“Classic car restoration is in my blood,” says Tony. “When my parents founded this business in 1985, their passion and commitment helped fulfill a critical gap in the restoration and custom car industry. Today, I am thrilled to announce that Jamco is taking several significant leaps to bring our customers’ restoration and preservation efforts to an even higher, end-to-end level.”

To accomplish this, Jamco is expanding its product offerings to include a complete line of restoration, aftermarket and performance parts for Ford, GM and Chrysler automobiles built between 1949-1972. New product lines for all classic cars will be added steadily throughout the coming months, including body and sheet metal, exterior chrome and trim, interior trim, lighting and weather stripping, to name a few.

The name change to Jamco Parts defines the shift that is taking place at the heart of the business as it takes on a stronger vision. The new brand insignia will be rolled out throughout 2016, including the launch of a new website, www.jamcoparts.com, and a new product catalogue. The relocation of the Jamco headquarters from Corona, California to Cypress, California has already taken place.
