Love it or hate it, rat rods are a thing. Since it is Halloween, it seems like the perfect time to celebrate all things ratty, rusty, crusty, and a little bit creepy. A YouTube user that goes by the name Luvyabro took the time to create a music video that celebrates rat rods, skulls, fire, and rockabilly music.
Taking inspiration from the Astrolites’ song Hot Rod From Hell, the mastermind used video clips and stills to create montage of all things creepy. This creative soul found inspiration in the early days of cinema as well as the horror genre to create ominous feeling as the backdrop for the song. Hot Rods From Hell seems to fit the rat rod culture just like a human skin mask and Leatherface.
Fortunately, Leatherface does not make an appearance in this music video otherwise this would be given a NSFW warning. Skulls, spiderwebs, a bottle of embalming fluid, and Old No. 7 (Jack Daniels) make appearances during the montage of rusty and ratty. Many rat rods feature the symbols of Halloween, so why not celebrate rat rods on All Hallows Eve?
It certainly beats smashing pumpkins and eating candy corn. Rat rods may have a bad reputation, but they tend find inspiration in the season. Think about it this way, if a rat rod builder finds a screw or a razor blade in a piece of candy, they are more likely to use that item as inspiration for their next build or a hot ornament.
