The American car culture is celebrated all over the world, and while every country has its own unique automotive trends, American cars and car trends are celebrated quite often. This is especially true in Europe, where muscle cars and hot rods are quite popular with the locals…even though these vehicles were never sold in countries like Germany.

This video, from the annual Germany gathering called “Rust and Dust” shows that even when it rains, ze German hot rodders know how to have a good time.

Raindrops Are Falling On My Racetrack - Rust´n´Dust Jalopy Teterow 2011 [English Subs] from faust & heisler on Vimeo.

The event brings together hot rodders of all shapes and sizes, who come out to compete in a sort of bracket racing ‘round an actual race track. Unfortunately this year, rain canceled the main racing event around the track, which sucks. But that didn’t get ze Germans down.

In true American fashion, these Germans made the most of a bad situation. Most of these cars you wouldn’t expect to see in Europe, getting all wet and muddy…and the weather does pose some problems for performance. We saw a number of awesome rat rods, customs, and cruisers in this brief video, all vehicles that would be home at any American meet but are quite the eyebrow-raisers over in the EU. We’re glad to see that even the Europeans can enjoy and good ol’ fashioned muddy throwdown in some awesome rat rods…hell, the mud might have even made it better.
