While last year’s Goodguys Rod and Custom Association event at the Ohio Expo Center was phenominal, as evidenced by the highlight video of last year’s event, this year’s PPG Nationals marks the 15th version of the PPG Nationals. The decade and a half milestone anniversary prompted the good guys to honor the occasion by featuring all makes and models of Woodies from 1972 and earlier.

Any pre-1972 Woodies attending the 15th PPG Nationals are invited to a special parking area at the event, called “Good Wood.” The special parking area is an ideal spot for hanging out and enjoying these unique American automobiles.

Woodies will have their own special parking area at the Goodguys 15th PPG Nationals.

“Woodies are special to American automotive history and to the hobby of street rodding,” said Goodguys Event Director Harry Daviess. “The big three all made Woodies in some form or another from the 30′s through the 60s and we always dig seeing them show up for our Goodguys events. We wanted to make a special spot for them at our signature event of the year.”

A long time popular choice for rodders, Woodies have been featured in major motion pictures and car shows since the 1930′s, which makes these rods an icon in automotive street rods. Good Wood will take place from 7 am to noon Saturday, July 7th in the Cardinal Lot. All participants will receive a commemorative dash plaque, as well as a chance to be selected as the “Good Wood” award winner for Sunday’s prestigious PPG Nationals award ceremony. Goodguys will also select the “Wonderful Woody” pick from the Good Wood area.

The Goodguys 15th PPG Nationals is the largest Goodguys event of the year with over 6,000 1972 & earlier rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, trucks and yes Woodies! Steeped in tradition, the event also features hundreds of vendor booths, the crowning of the Street Machine of the Year and Street Rod of the Year, Goodguys AutoCross, Friday Night Drags, swap meet & car corral, arts & crafts, a model car show exhibit and more.
