Video: James Hetfield Announces the Orion Music and More Festival

When we usually think of rock festivals, concerts such as Woodstock, Lollapalooza, and Ozzfest instantly spring to mind.  However, nothing good lasts forever, and so with no Woodstock planned any time soon, Lollapalooza being held in South America this year, and only Ozzfest carrying the torch for the heavy metal fans, what’s a headbanger to do?

Well leave it up to James Hetfield of Metallica to put together not just a rock festival, but a concert so huge that it has its own car and motorcycle show. Seriously. Dubbed Orion Music and More, it will have an all-star lineup of rock groups held in Atlantic City during the weekend of June 23rd and 24th.

For those of you not only interested in making your ears bleed, but also entertaining the idea of entering your car or motorcycle in the show, it should be said that it’s open  to all classics, customs, hot rods, musclecars and motorcycles manufactured before 1973. On display in the Prim Palace, will be a few examples from Hetfield’s personal collection, including his ’36 Auburn Roadster and ’37 Lincoln Zephyr along with other celebrity rides.

The best part? The entry is free as long as you pre-register before May, 15th. But there’s a catch; space is limited to just 300 vehicles, and it’s by invitation only. So if you think your car or motorcycle is amongst the best in the world, then you need to register on the Orion site, fill out the application, and attach the best photo you have of your ride.

Recently, James was asked about why he has such a love for cars, and what inspires him to have his rods built the way he does. Check out the attached video to see what he has to say.
