Glen Thornton, owner and operator of Heatin’ Ana Beatin’ Weldin’ Service, better known as Amazin’ Blaze, is a man that knows what he knows. And if you believe what he says, Glen knows welding.  The Alabama native Thornton, has become an internet hero for telling everyone what he can do in welding in under 30 seconds.
After hearing his pitch, which includes line like, “I weld long arc, short arc, heli-arc, and in the dark,” and “fit for four welders, weld for four fitters,” with the ultimate promise, “If you don’t like the way I do it, I’ll let you try it,” there is little doubt that Glen David Thornton knows his stuff.Â
Yes, he does weld for a living and plays music in the evenings for a hobby and second source of income, which is probably where his rapid-fire staccato delivery comes from. He claims to be a country artist that worked at construction before pursuing his singing career. “I am still a pipe welder by trade, and well known as the “Amazing Blaze.” I still weld for a living and write songs when time permits.”
According to Thornton, “My songs will make you laugh, make you cry, make you stop and wonder why. Don’t try to stop your tears when they start, let your self relate to the words from my hillbilly heart! Help me hang up my welding shield for good, and buy my music. Thanx and God Bless America.”
You can check out his music at www.cdbaby.com/cd/gdthornton. We listened to a sample and highly recommend the cut “No one can take her,” as it is guaranteed to make you cry. One thing is for sure: He could be a television pitchman on par with the legendary Billy Mays.
