Watching a hot rod rip a well-controlled wheelstand down the track is pretty high on our list of “Most Entertaining Spectator Sports.” Being behind the wheel of said hot rod is also an amazing feeling, providing you maintain control. Losing control while in the middle of a wheelstand? That’s easily one of the most terrifying experiences you can ever have behind the wheel.

Bangshift came across this video of the drag racer Steve Easton pulling a both-glorious-and-scary wheelstand in a supercharged ‘32 Ford hot rod. And of course, this video comes from, of all places, Australia.

The Aussies love American cars almost as much as Americans, and Easton’s powerful ‘32 Ford is a testament to the universal love of speed and power that every decent human being possesses. Believe it or not though, there is such a thing as “too much power” in a drag race…or rather, in Easton’s case, too much grip.

He launches off the line and lifts the nose of his supercharged hot rod, which is to be expected. But then the nose of the drag racer keeps rising until finally Easton is forced to back off. Gravity is a bitch, and it brings his hot rod back to Earth hard. The hot rods take off right around the one-minute mark, and while we’re not sure what broke, we’re pretty sure that this wheelstand definitely wasn’t cheap…
