We continuously scan the interwebs for any news that is related to hot rods, street rods, or vintage cars, so you can imagine our excitement when we stumbled across a twitter post that claimed to have a story concerning a vintage car saved from hurricane Irma by parking it in the living room. We clicked on the link to discover a neat little article from People Magazine in their human interest section. Sadly, the article was a little misleading, but still interesting.
The article was titled Florida Man Bests Wife in Challenge to Save Vintage Car from Irma: ‘It’s in My Living Room! Apparently the owner of a “vintage” 1987 Nissan 300ZX was worried about his pride and joy, with no garage to store the car in, the man made a bet with his wife. The deal was contingent on the man getting his car through the sliding glass patio door into the living room.
Challenge accepted! Like every good committed car fanatic, the man decided to take apart the sliding door and drive the car into the house. His wife, and her sense of fair play, stayed true to the bet and let the car become the centerpiece of the living room. We were at a loss for words when we discovered the “vintage” car was a late 80s Nissan Z car, but to paraphrase the “Dude” Lebowski; That car really tied the room together – so it gets a free pass this time.
