Rod Authority’s Fave: 1929 Ford Roadster At Route 66 Cruisin Reunion

“The leaves are falling all around, time I was on my way…” Led Zeppelin

Boy, the summer of 2019 went by fast.  One of the best parts of the waning days of summer is the final car shows of the season.  In Southern California at least, the trees are still leafy and a key hot rod event remained on the docket

September’s Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion is in its seventh season and continues Southern California’s celebration of its love affair with the automobile and Route 66, the mythical highway that runs through Ontario, California.

Times have changed over the last few decades for Ontario and what was once a citrus growing region, exploded in growth and is now part of the almost never-ending sprawl of San Bernardino County.

According to promoter Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau, “Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion is a Southern California ultimate weekend celebration of America’s love affair with the automobile and its world-famous highway, Route 66. Two days of cruisin’, contests, live entertainment, fabulous food, and revelry make it one of the best events of its kind.

Held annually each September along historic, tree-shaded Euclid Avenue in Ontario, California, Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion is where classic cruisers, convertibles, hot rods, and wicked Woodies fuel a jam-packed jamboree. The show is a family-friendly event located on historic Euclid Avenue and the downtown streets near Ontario Town Square. Come as a family, food or retail vendor, bring your classic car, and enjoy a stroll along the historic tree-lined Euclid Avenue to admire the beauty of these fabulous vehicles from yesteryear.

Rod Authority had the tough task of picking our favorite rod from the show and when the smoke cleared, the winner was a 1929 Ford Roadster owned by was Patrick Zavala. A full fendered car with a tri-power small block Chevy, it shimmered under the late summer California sun. Congrats to Patrick on a well-presented car!  Thanks to all for a great show and we’ll see you next year!
