The SEMA show is all about the latest and greatest, with tons of new technology, just-released cars and trucks, and computerized rainbow-powered unicorn factories everywhere you look. But sometimes, “new” isn’t “better,” and the parts we knew growing up are still the right solution to the problems we’re faced with.
Take a brand that is near and dear to the heart of every hot rodder and muscle car fanatic of a “certain age” – Cherry Bomb. Their name is synonymous with glasspack mufflers, and while a lot of other manufacturers are rediscovering these silencers and adding them to their own line, the guys who have probably sold more of them than anybody else have actually taken a step back in time with their “traditional ol’ skool” seamed glasspack muffler. With a 2.25 inch inlet and outlet, 18-inch long body, and 23-inch overall length, it would be right at home on any “period correct” late ’40’s or early 50’s hot rod.
That’s not to say that Cherry Bomb has turned their back on the future – quite the opposite, because they’re expanding into other areas like drag racing as well. A perfect example is their new collector muffler, with internal features so hush-hush (pardon the pun) that we’re not allowed to show them to you just yet. The muffler and collector are available separately or as a welded unit, in sizes up to 5-inches in diameter.
