SEMA 2012: Barrett-Jackson Preps For Scottsdale Auction Event

SEMA attracts whordes of car-hungry enthusiasts every year. Without a doubt, it only makes sense to have Barrett-Jackson outfitted with their own outpost. If you’re like us, you live and breath the world of everything automotive, including the buying and selling of rare and unique vehicles.

Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions is excited to announce the return of the company’s preeminent Scottsdale auction, taking place January 13-20, 2013 at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Not only does this event attract the very best in car aficionados and collectors, but in its Salon Collection, some of the world’s most rare, valuable, collectible and coveted are for sale and displayed under one tent.

Specifically, three of the 35 Salon Collection vehicles are sure to draw great crowds:

-1971 FC7-In Violet Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda Convertible — After an extensive two-year restoration preparation by Cummins Restoration in Grand Haven, Mich., the HEMI ‘Cuda was completed by Ted Mazurek at Sullivan’s shop in Madison Heights, Mich. This uniquely-painted HEMI ‘Cuda Convertible was inspected, authenticated and appraised to the highest museum standards by Mopar guru, Galen Govier, after its restoration. The dedication Sullivan showed to this vehicle for many years ago paid off when the 1971 HEMI ‘Cuda Convertible took top honors at the 2005 Meadowbrook Concours d’Elegance.

-Clark Gable’s 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe — The car was purchased by Gable himself at Mercedes-Benz of Hollywood and is considered to be one of the most celebrated two-seaters of all time. One of only 1,400 made, the 300SL Gullwing was created as the production version of the 1952 Le Mans-winning 300SL, and became the world’s first gasoline fuel injected production car, thanks to a Bosch mechanical fuel injection. The car has since been restored by Paul Russel and was maintained by Mercedes mechanics.

-Restored Shelby Prototype, dubbed “The Green Hornet” — Arguably one of the rarest and most desirable Ford Mustangs in the world, The 1968 Green Hornet enjoys the distinction of being one of the very few factory prototypes that survived the crusher. It represents a rolling history of what Ford and Shelby American were producing in the heyday of the American muscle car era and is considered one of the most innovative and unique vehicles of its time.

A full list of Salon Collection vehicles is available along with more information on each car here. Barrett-Jackson’s exclusive Salon Collection will go across the block at the famed Scottsdale auction, January 19, 2013. Other incredible vehicles will also be offered up for sale from January 13-20, 2013, under the company’s iconic quarter-mile tent.
