SEMA 2018: Classic Instruments Unveils Its New Chevy Truck Gauges

Chevy C10 enthusiasts know how difficult it is to find parts for their beloved work horse trucks, let alone find a quality piece for their modern classic. Michigan’s famous gauge manufacturer, Classic Instruments, has changed all that with their latest release.

According to Classic Instruments’ Cliff Carey, the direct-fit instrument cluster for 1964-66 Chevy trucks is the latest and greatest product off of the manufacturing floor for the company.

Initially debuted at the 2018 NSRA Street Rod Nationals show in Louisville, Kentucky, reception by the C10 community has been great. “It comes with everything you are going to need to get it mounted into you ’64-’66 Chevy truck,” Carey assured us. “Sending units, wiring harness, mounting hardware, it’s all included in the box.” The retail price is $975, and is sold through 225 dealers world-wide.

“The cluster is completely electric and designed for a seamless installation into the stock dash of 1964-66 Chevy trucks,” Carey added. “It uses the existing factory bezel during installation to maintain the stock look. One of the many benefits to this package is the ability to choose a near stock gauge style, or select one of 3 other Classic Instruments’ signature colors, white, tan, or gray, for a more unique cluster.” Other features that you have come to expect from Classic Instruments include a scratch-resistant acrylic lens. The unit is compatible with the existing factory fuel sending unit, so that eliminates the need for a new fuel sending unit.

We also spotted a similar type direct-fit instrument panel for 1973-87  square body Chevy/GMC trucks. This cluster is also completely electric and designed for a seamless, direct installation into the stock dash of 1973-87 Chevy/GMC trucks, Suburbans, and Blazers. It also uses the existing factory bezel during installation to maintain the stock look.

The ability to choose a stock-style appearing gauge or select one of the signature Classic Instruments gauge styles is another option for the consumer. According to Carey, the cluster comes with a programmable fuel gauge to accommodate any aftermarket or wild tank designs. Like all of the instrument clusters, these parts are all made in the U.S.A. at their factory in Boyne City, Michigan. “Every component in these is made in the U.S.A. and that is a big thing for us,” said Carey.
