It’s that time of year again, and the SEMA Show is in full swing. Every year we make it a point to stop by the COMP Performance Group’s booth because there is sure to be some exciting stuff waiting to be found. Sure enough, this year has been no exception.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past decade, COMP Performance Group encompasses brands such as COMP Cams, TCI Automotive, ZEX, and FAST – among several others. What caught our eye this time around was a product from their TCI Automotive brand. TCI is their drivetrain company, and they have a new product for 2019 that is really exciting.

It’s called the Wireless EZ-TCU – a bluetooth enabled controller that works with TCI’s EZ-TCU transmission controller. For those of you with a 4L60E, 4L65E, or 4L70E transmission, the Wireless EZ-TCU enables users to look at live data, like rpm, mph, torque converter/clutch lockup, trans temp, or what gear they’re in, in real time from their smart device. That’s right, no longer will users be relegated to using the screen provided to them, they can do so just by glancing at their phone or tablet.

As an added benefit, the Wireless EZ-TCU can also serve as a safety feature. They accomplish this by integrating the Setup Wizard, a provision within the system that allows users to input all of their pertinent information such as tire size, rear end gears, engine size, etc. But where it gets interesting is with the security lock and unlock function. According to – – “This is the only transmission controller on the market that actually has the ability to deactivate your car. Completely controlled by the app, it allows the system to cut off power to a fuel pump, ignition coils, or fuel injectors – the intent is to have this where you can have your phone in your pocket and when you walk up to your car, it senses you and unlocks it.”
