When it comes to the underhood area of a hot rod, nobody wants to lift the hood and see a dirty engine. Car enthusiasts pride themselves on their ride looking better than the factory ever intended. Accessories like the water pump and alternator are hard items to keep clean – especially with an as-cast finish. That is, unless they have Tuff Stuff Performance’s Cast + (plus) coating.
The Cast + coating is similar to powdercoating, but according to Mike Stasko of Tuff Stuff, it’s a baked-on, polymer process that keeps the as-cast look. Tuff Stuff alternators and water pumps will not oxidize or tarnish in the hot environment. “Unlike raw aluminum that will oxidize, the Cast + coating keeps the alternator or starter looking great,” says Stasko. “We actually hung one in a tree outside of our main office door for 90 days. We then wiped it down, and it looked as good as new.”
So, if you want to upgrade your cooling or charging system, look no farther than Tuff Stuff Performance. And, if you want that as-cast OE-look to last forever, get that upgrade with a long-lasting Cast + finish.
