One thing all automotive enthusiasts know, whether they’re into old school muscle, hot rods or modern performance machines, is the love for their rides. And if you’re a die-hard like many, you’re not going to let anything get in your way of enjoying your prized vehicle. Such is the case of Dick Eytchison and his 1965 Chevelle four-door sedan. Although life has thrown some kickers Eytchison’s way, he still remains where he’s always wanted to be-behind the wheel of his car.

Eytchison has loved cars most of his life. At age 68, he’s been married to his wife Karen for 46 years, who comments that he was always wrenching on his car in the garage, had kids and now has two grandkids that love cars just like their grandfather. But even though Eytchison is now of retirement age doesn’t mean he’s slowed down any. If anything, he’s enjoying his car more, becoming involved in autocross and road racing events.

A resident of Colorado, Eytchison doesn’t let driving distance deter him from competing behind the wheel of his Chevelle. In fact, he has driven cross country before just to have a little extra fun at a competition before. Eytchison also doesn’t let medical issues get in the way of enjoying his ride. Even though he’s currently recovering from open heart surgery, you’d be hard-press to find him far from his car for long.

The life of a true car enthusiast is simple in one way-the basic idea of loving and enjoying a car for the grin it brings to your face. While life may be hectic otherwise, car love is simple and easy for those of us who’ve experienced it, and for that we congratulate Eytchison. Even with the hurdles of life- he continues to exhibit the true idea of heartfelt automotive passion.
