Auburn Auction Offers the Red Collection At No Reserve September 5th

The catalog for the 13th-annual Auburn Auction has been listed online. Did you know that 3/4 of this year’s consignments are being offered at no reserve? This includes the Red Collection as well as two other stunning collections. To be held on Sept. 5th, 2020, this will be both a live and online auction; and the only live online auction still on the calendar for 2020. This Labor Day Weekend event will take place at the company’s Indiana headquarters.

One of the highlights of this auction is the Red Collection. This is an extremely sought after collection that consists of number-matching Corvette Roadsters and one Coupe. The vehicles span in years from 1961 through 1967. It even includes coveted Triple Crown Award winners as part of the lot. Again, this auction has no reserve.

The highly desirable Red Collection

The Red Collection

The 1961 Chevrolet Corvette ‘Dual-Quad” Roadster is just one of the highly sought after vehicles that is part of the Red Collection. It is a Duntov Mark of Excellence Award Winner – scoring an impressive 98.6 out of 100. It is an all numbers-matching engine with a four-speed manual transmission and dual four-barrel intake. Perfectly designed in Roman Red with Ermine White Coves, this car sports an interior that was done to perfection—complete with clear gauges and the original Wonderbar AM radio. In 1995, this car was even used as a model for the Franklin Mint when they went in search of a perfect Corvette to use for its die-cast models. You can get more information on this particular car here.

There is a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette 327/340 “split window” coupe that will also be up for auction. This is another numbers-matching engine car. This car was sold new in Hawaii, and therefore it’s said that this car was delivered straight from the factory with the heater-defroster deleted. Not only is this a numbers-matching car, but after inspection, it was determined that even all the casting numbers were correct. This car even still has the original tags that announce the original paint codes. You can get the complete history of this vehicle here.

The split window design is one of the things that made this 1963 Sting Ray so desirable.
