Auction Watch -1951 Ford F-2 Pickup At Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas

Whether you like auctions or not, they’re a good finger-on-the-pulse barometer of what hot rods and kustoms are selling for. Each week, our “Auction Watch” column here at Rod Authority brings you some of the coolest cars and trucks offered around the country from some of the biggest and most recognized auction houses.

This week we’re checking out a beautiful 1951 Ford F-2 Restomod Pickup with a cool backstory under its belt… er, hood. Finds such as this one tend to bring big money to the auction block – but we’ll have to wait and see what this pickup brings.

According to Barrett-Jackson, “Lot #689 – This ground-up, custom-built Ford F-2 was recently completed, featuring a 700hp supercharged Ford crate engine and a custom-built chassis. The exterior is painted black with copper pearl and sits on top of of a chassis powder-coated in candy copper. Control arms, rear axle, brake lines and other under body components are powder-coated gloss black. The candy copper and black color theme is continued throughout the entire build.

The custom built TCI Engineering chassis was built to handle the horsepower and provide the best available steering and braking. The chassis features a IFS built by TCI Engineering with 2″ drop spindles, along with a power rack & pinion steering.

The rear suspension is a 3-link, torque-link with a Currier Racing sheet metal rear housing and full-floating rear axle. The 13″ Wilwood drilled and slotted rotors have been paired with Wilwood 6-piston calipers and for maximum stopping power. This truck is powered by a brand-new 5.0-liter Ford Racing Aluminator crate engine with a VMP Stage II supercharger kit, mated to a Performance Automatic 4R70W 4-speed automatic transmission.

Keeping the power to the ground, is a set of Pirelli tires mounted on a set of 20″ Mobsteel steelie wheels. The rear differential is a 3.50 Currie Racing 35-spline TrueTrac. The exhaust is complete with a set of 40 series Flowmaster mufflers featuring 3″ black ceramic-coated pipes from front to back coming together at a set of quad tips.

The entire interior has been insulated with two layers of sound and heat proofing. The upholstery theme features black seats with copper stitching and a single-piece headliner. The heat and air conditioning controls are custom-mounted into the dash. The Ididit tilt steering column and the black leather wheel are color-matched to the rest of the truck.

The tunes are supplied by a factory-looking deck with USB input for MP3 or phone connection, and there’s been an auxiliary USB port added to the dash. The stereo is powered by a 500-watt Rockford Fosgate amplifier, running a set of four Infinity Reference speakers.

The bed of the truck features new oak boards with a dark stain. The strips and fuel filler-cap have been powder-coated to match the truck accents. The headlights, blinkers and brake lights have all been upgraded to LED.”

The truck is offered with no reserve and will cross the block at Barrett-Jackson September 27th-29th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Stay tuned to Rod Authority to find out what it brought.
