The word on the street is that Blevins Auto in Brooksville, Florida, is in the works building a custom that is surely going to rock the socks off all kustom enthusiasts at the upcoming SEMA show later this year. We talked with Chance Blevins, who specializes in building several customs for celebrities and professional athletes, and he confirmed that the team at Blevins is currently working on The Black Dahlia, a post-war Chevy Deluxe coupe.

Currently under construction, Blevins Auto is driven to get this baby finished before this year’s SEMA Show.

Offering a great balance of style and luxury, you can literally take a Deluxe in radically different directions. One can keep this car classy and make it look like royalty. On the other end, a kustom enthusiast can completely flip this car out and turn it into a beast.

The Deluxe was the first Chevrolet to share the same front end appearance as its truck counterpart. What originally has stainless steel trim and plenty of chrome on the exterior, Blevins Auto is aiming to remove the luxury label off the Deluxe they are currently building.

Blevins said the plan for The Black Dahlia runs on a tight schedule, with so much to do in such a small time frame. Set to be a featured vehicle at SEMA this year, Blevins Auto wants to produce a build that both Spectre Performance and themselves can be proud of.

Frame off was the only way to do the Dahlia proper justice in its voyage to kustom perfection.

Spectre Performance will be supplementing a sweet intake system as well as providing support on other pieces according to Blevins.

“The Black Dahlia will have a full custom frame setup, almost track style, with 20×10-inch fronts and 22×12-inch or 14-inch wheels in the rear,” said Blevins.

We received an early build shot of what is going under the hood on The Black Dahlia, which is a fully built out LS2 V8 engine with a single turbo, mated with a General Motors 4L80-E four-speed automatic transmission.

“Not to mention, the Black Dahlia will have a full Borla stainless exhaust,” said Blevins.

Aesthetically, the Dahlia is aiming to be all black and murdered out from head to toe. Blevins said there may be some hints of blood red sprinkled throughout the exterior, but he may consider keeping it blacked out.

The interior is hinted to have a fully custom black leather interior, complemented with splashes of red to give the Dahlia visual continuity inside and out. Blevins also mentioned that the Dahlia’s roof has a subtle 2-inch chop, giving the kustom a sleeker profile.

As for the exterior, the Dahlia is aiming to be shaved all the way around and given a suicide door treatment. We already like what we see based on what they have sent us and can’t wait to see the finished product.
