Man, nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the annual Goodguys All American Get-Together, happening this upcoming March 24 and 25 at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds, Goodguys is sending out a special invitation to all 1983 model American cars and trucks. Goodguys will be hosting a special display called “Flashback Sunday” where they’ll feature all the top cars from that year.
While 1983 wasn’t exactly what you’d recall as being a watermark year for domestic performance, some of the “hot cars” Goodguys suggests include the IROC Z/28 Camaro, Mustang 5.0 GT, Chevy Caprice Classic, Ford Thunderbird, and Pontiac 6000 and Sunbird (hey! where are the DeLoreans? Just because they were built in Ireland with French motors disqualifies them? Well, maybe so…).
So yeah, Goodguys is celebrating 1983 at the All American Get-Together at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds, but not just because 1983 was a great year for new cars, but because of the first year of the Pleasanton event, and that means something very special. Back then, it was a one day show with a little over over 400 American cars. Today, the annual All American Get-Together is ginormous and welcomes thousands of cars over the two-day event.
While all of you with ’83 model vehicles are more than welcome Saturday, the special “Flashback Sunday” parking area will be only on Sunday, March 25th near the Double Decker bus; and all you need to do is drive in!
