Consider Original Parts Group A Friend With The Parts You Need

OPGI

When it comes to restoring one of the General’s classic rides, be it a Chevrolet, Pontiac, Cadillac, Buick, or Oldsmobile, we can all use some help. Let’s face it, when they rolled down the assembly line, these cars were not built by a single person. That’s why it only makes sense that we coerce, cajole, or outright bribe a buddy or two into helping us as we undertake a rebuild.

The help that you receive can come in many different forms. For instance, you might have a friend that can rebuild the engine or help reupholster the seats. Maybe your buddy is a painter, and he can help you tackle that seemingly impossible task. But quite possibly, the best friend that anyone can have is the buddy that can help you get the parts you need to complete a world-class rebuild – be it a restoration, restomod, or even a racecar.

How many of your friends have a complete 1970 Chevelle body ready to help you out?

You might not personally know anyone at Original Parts Group (OPGI), but they are true friends to all General Motors enthusiasts. The company was started in November, 1982 as Chevelle Classics, when Dave Leonard started selling Chevelle and El Camino parts from a two-car garage in Santa Ana, California. In 1983, GM started discontinuing what were considered “old parts”, and Chevelle Classics rebranded itself as OPGI, and the business expanded by acquiring and adding this enormous cache of obsolete GM parts and accessories to the reproduction parts line.

Since then, they have become one of the leading suppliers of parts for many models of General Motors cars. According to Dave Leonard, president and founder, “The storied GM cars of yesteryear are the perfect expression of American values and pride. It is with those very same ideals that we have operated for over 35 years”

If you are looking for some video help to accomplish a car-related task, check out their video page.

Not only are they friends that happen to have a lot of parts, but if you check out their website, you’ll also find information to help you complete certain tasks during the rebuild of your ride. For instance, check out this video that explains how to replace roll up quarter-windows. If you are looking to do a cosmetic upgrade like modifying your Malibu gauge cluster to resemble that of a Super Sport, this video will show you what parts you need, and how to accomplish the task.

They even have a video on their site showing how to replace a quarter panel.

Original Parts Group is a business, and although they are looking to deliver the parts you need for your restoration or rebuild, they can also be a good friend, and we can’t stress how important it is to have friends that can lend a hand. If you give them the opportunity, the folks at Original Parts Group are sure to distinguish themselves as true friends to you.
