We’re going to admit up front that we love this story. In 2009 Dave Schaub drove his ’32 Ford Roadster through two countries and 49 continental United States as a charity drive to fund the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford, and just recently he did it again this past September in 7 days, 14 hours, and 21 minutes. Both trips were completed without a hitch and Dave attributed a lot of the credit to his Edelbrock crate motor for the lack of issues he encountered. These were very extreme drives and put the components of his ’32 to the test.
Dave was quoted after the trips saying, “I’ve logged over 52,000 miles on that motor. The motor still performs like it was new with great power and torque. Driving it hard each day for 18 to 20 hours a day really put the motor to the test. The Edelbrock Performance Lubricants were a big part of the success of the recent “49-i-n7 Drivin’ for the Kids” event. Driving through 49 states in just 7 days, 14 hours and 21 minutes. Now that is a test!”
Dave kept a blog of his journeys on his website, 49in7.com, and we’re already guilty of spending quite a a bit of on-the-clock time there going through it all. Technically speaking, it was his wife that kept the blog up to snuff, but as we say in the business, Dave provided all of the source material!
