Drag racing was born with the classic muscle cars and hot rods of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, and the Goodguys Rod and Custom Association is making certain to keep that spirit of old school racing alive. This year, the Goodguys will be hosting another round of drag racing events on their schedule, and they promise to have great on track action for both racers and fans.
The big draw for any Goodguys event, of course, is the massive number of high quality show cars on display. At any given show, you’ll see cars and hot rods that have won the most prestigious honors that anything with wheels can be awarded. The Goodguys organization has shows all across the country, running from March until November, and have something for everybody, including swap meets, large manufacturers midways, and even autocross racing.
This year you can catch all the vintage drag racing from the Goodguys at National Trail Raceway in Columbus Ohio, Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington, and in Bowling Green, Kentucky at the Beech Bend Raceway Park. Each of these events correspond with a local Goodguys show, so you know there will be tons of high level show cars hanging out.
The vintage drag racing events have classes for classic cars and hot rods of every year up to 1972, and are separated by how quick they can run down the strip. In addition to the various classes of racing, each event will have exciting exhibition classes that include wheelstanding Gassers, wild Fuel Altereds, and Nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars.
