Real Deal Steel introduces two crucial missing pieces for Chevy Nomad/Pontiac Safari restorers — complete, all steel reproduction left- and right-hand doors. These 18-gauge doors are exact reproductions of the factory originals.
Official Release:
The missing pieces of the restoration puzzle for 1955-1957 Chevy Nomad (and Pontiac Safari) owners are finally here – complete door assemblies in new 18-gauge steel – exclusively from Real Deal Steel. The exact reproductions of the original doors include inner and outer assemblies, all mounting points and other holes, except for the stainless trim holes. And, the factory-matching 18-gauge steel doors have twice the stiffness of any 19- and 20-gauge products currently available. Both left- and right-hand doors will be available Nov. 1. Real Deal Steel is taking advance orders.
The release of these long-awaited doors comes in the middle of a record-setting year for Real Deal Steel. Currently twenty reproduction bodies (14 Camaros and 6 Tri-Five Chevys) are on order for customers and the first 1966-1967 Chevy II Nova two-door hardtop bodies will be available later this fall. “In addition to producing full bodies for our customers we are always looking to add critical missing pieces for the first-generation Camaro and Tri-Five Chevy enthusiasts such as these doors and the recently released complete, one-piece floor pans for 1967-1969 Camaro convertibles,” said Joe Whitaker, co-owner of Real Deal Steel.
Real Deal Steel produces all-steel reproduction bodies for American Classics from the Forties, Fifties and Sixties: 1940 Ford five-window coupes, 1955-1957 Chevys, 1967-1969 Camaros and Firebirds and 1966-1967 Chevy II Nova two-door hardtops later this year. The bodies are assembled in Sanford, FL, from high quality steel structural components to exact factory specifications on Real Deal Steel’s proprietary assembly fixtures that guarantee exact factory-spec fit every time. All structural and skin assembly utilizes water-cooled 220V resistance spot welders – the same technology used in much-larger automotive assembly plants. Real Deal Steel generally uses 25 percent more spot welds than original to give the bodies added strength. In addition to factory-original bodies, Real Deal Steel also offers modification options such as customized firewalls and mini-tub wheel housings, in addition to a wide selection of individual steel panels for American classics.
