NSRA Spooling-Up For Nats South

The event calendar has been decimated for obvious reasons this year. Many shows were lucky enough to be re-scheduled while others were wiped off of the 2020 calendar completely. Like so many show organizers, the National Street Rod Association has been working diligently to utilize everything short of permanent marker to keep many events alive amid mandates and restrictions.

The 46th Annual NSRA Nats South is one event that needed to be re-scheduled to its new date, which is quickly approaching. Originally scheduled for the beginning of May, the event is now set to happen on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of October 2-4, 2020. If you previously pre-registered for this event, your entry number will stay the same and you will need the original Street Rod Nationals-South confirmation of entry letter and current NSRA membership card to pick up credentials.

The event takes place on the expansive Chilhowee Park Expo Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, and will be filled to the brim with vintage hot rods, street rods, customs, and a bevy of autos that are at least 30-years old. Many of the attendees will be entered in a variety of events such as Streets of Rods, 29 Below Rodders, Pro’s Picks, and the NSRA’s own Safety Inspections to name a few.

We are always amazed at the quality of cars at an NSRA event. The detail work inside and out of this early Ford is extensive and the design is super-clean. You will find professionally-built, as well as garage projects at the NSRA Nats events that will inspire and help you to build your car exactly how you want it.

To help include enthusiasts, both young and young at heart, activities will be featured for all ages, many just for the children and ladies. Live entertainment will perform during the day and night time to keep the vibe hopping. As with all NSRA-sponsored events, there will be more than $54,000.00 in Super Prize giveaways, plus a special “NSRA Sunday $weep$take$” giveaway presented to the participants of the Street Rod Nationals South.

We were floored by this Boss-Nine-powered Starliner! Between the engine bay, the car's overall build quality and those classic lines, there was so much to take in!

Beyond things to see and do, there will also be plenty of opportunities to acquire parts for your project or to locate a new project entirely. There will be a vintage swap meet for those parts you can’t get at the parts store anymore, as well as several vendors who supply products to restore, hop up, or simply make your ride more to your liking.

No matter how rare, or how you like to drive your car, there are always fine examples of why the NSRA events are favorites for car fanatics each year.

Not only will you see cars on the various show areas vying for an award, but you’ll also get to enjoy them driving around the grounds and also, as they enter and exit the gate throughout the event!

Events such as the NSRA’s Nats South also provide an opportunity to share with enthusiasts about your car and theirs. They also allow you to view the many ways that others may have solved a certain hurdle or simply pick up ideas or inspiration for your project. Many clubs and groups with a particular interest use regional events such as the Nats South as an opportunity to form club meetings and enjoy the event weekend as a group. Check out the video of a few Packards that attended the 2019 event below!

This year, there are so many reasons why car enthusiasts are searching for venues to come together as a group and enjoy their automotive lifestyle. When the stars align, venues such as the NSRA’s Nats South event will help them put the world’s worries in the rearview mirror for a while.
