With the hot rod scene bursting at the seams with unique rides, you have to do something incredibly original with your build to have it stand out; that, or own something extremely rare to begin with. While rare rides certainly don’t come up for sale very often, the Mecum Houston auction in April has one car on the schedule that could very well be the rarest rod to hit the auction stage in a very long time giving bidders one unique opportunity.
The car set to be sold off among dozens of others during the April Mecum auction in Houston is a 1934 Cadillac Fleetwood All-Weather Phaeton–one of just three models ever built with a V12 powerplant tucked between its front frame rails.
Restored back in 1994, the All-Weather Phaeton still maintains its all-important original 45 degree OHV 368ci V12 engine. This is tied to a manual transmission, pushing the V12’s power to the pavement via wide whitewall tires complimented by chrome wheel covers.
Built in Canada, this particular Phaeton features all the perks you’d expect from such a unique ride, including dual-mounted spare tires, a rear-mounted travel trunk, sleek black top, red interior, and factory goddess hood ornament. With all these features and such an amazing restoration, it’s no wonder this car is an Antique Automobile Club of America National Award winner.
Set to cross the auction block on Saturday April 12th, the Phaeton will surely be a hit when it crosses the Mecum stage at 3:15p.m.
