There’s no doubt that we all love to watch a project car come to life. So that’s why companies like Cherry Bomb are so great. Not only are they a leader in performance hot rod and street machine exhaust, but they’re always coming up with new project cars to kick start and unleash on the street.
This ’64 Dodge D-100 belongs to Jon Clark and is one of our favorite Cherry Bomb project vehicles ever, and while many builders had a role in it, so did Stacy David and the truck was featured several times on his TV show.
For some reason we have a serious soft spot for vehicles that are so ugly that only their mother could love them, and this old Dodge falls into that camp.
The little Dodge has a massive 528 HEMI crate motor under the hood that is good for 650hp, and it’s topped off with two Edelbrock carbs. The elephant is backed up by a Tremec T-56 Viper 6-speed transmission, topped off with a Lokar shifter as long as an NFL receiver is tall.
Stacy’s contribution to the truck included the installation of a Chassis Engineering rear 4-link that replaced the hoppy old leaf springs. He also added the Radir wheels and Coker tires to the package.
Of course, the showcase of the entire truck is the obnoxious and massively cool custom Cherry Bomb zoomies with 4” glasspacks. When the big HEMI fires up the zoomies shake, bobble, and make an inanely awesome amount of noise!
