In an industry full of hot rods, muscle cars, classics and customs, sometimes it’s hard to look back and determine what type of vehicle started it all. But when it comes to the racing industry, it was the vintage speedsters that paved a path for the everyday man and woman. While these cars certainly pop up at shows now and again, Speedway Motors continues to bring countless models together every year to celebrate the heritage and history behind these amazing race cars. This year will be no different as Speedway once again hosts the International Speedsters Trials and Reunion in June, kicking off another great year of activities centered around the industry we all enjoy.
The International Speedsters Trials and Reunion will be held at Speedway Motors and the Museum of American Speed, both residing in Lincoln, Nebraska, June 19th through the 22nd.
This four day event promises to bring speedsters and enthusiasts from all across the country as drivers take part in a car show, a road tour, dyno testing and an old-fashioned hill climb.
Participants will also have a chance to attend technical presentations and tour the Museum of American Speed, a museum on the Speedway Motors’ property chalk full of vintage speed parts as well as a number of Model T and Model A engines, all in celebration of the vintage speedsters.
While the one and two-seat speedsters were traditionally powered by pre-1935 Ford Model T or Model A engines, and featured hand-crafted bodies and early Ford frames, the International Speedsters Trials and Reunion welcomes all four-cylinder-powered cars, no matter their manufacturer or current body style.
Speedway Motors and the American Museum of Speed are undeniable forces in the automotive industry, bringing performance parts from today and yesteryear to the forefront for enthusiasts to enjoy. Certainly a fitting sponsor for the 2013 International Speedsters Trials and Reunion, we can’t wait to hear more about what Speedway has in store for this year’s event.
